What we store

When you create a paste, the text you type is stored so it can be retrieved from the link we give you. If you turn on client-side encryption, the text is scrambled in your browser before it ever leaves your device — we only ever see ciphertext, and the decryption key is never sent to us.

Advertising

DropText shows ads served through Monetag, an ad network that may use push notifications and browser-level ad delivery. This funds hosting and development. Monetag operates independently of DropText and has its own data practices — see their policy for details on what they collect.

What we don't collect

Local storage

Your browser keeps a small local history of links you've created (title preview, ids, edit tokens) so you can revisit and edit your own pastes. This never leaves your device and isn't sent to us.

Retention

Pastes are deleted automatically once they expire, based on the expiry you choose at creation (1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, or never). Pastes marked "burn after read" are deleted the moment they're first viewed.

Third parties

Paste storage is handled by Supabase, our database provider. No other third party has access to paste content.
