A faster way to share text

DropText is a free online text-sharing tool for sending code snippets, notes, and messages without creating an account. Paste your text, choose how long the link should last, and share it anywhere. Add a password, enable burn-after-read for one-time viewing, or turn on client-side encryption so the link's decryption key never touches our servers.

How it works

  1. Paste your text — type, paste, or drag a .txt/.md file into the box above.
  2. Choose your options — set an expiry, add a password, or turn on encryption under "More options."
  3. Share the link — copy it, scan the QR code, or share directly to X or WhatsApp.

Why people use DropText instead of a pastebin

Frequently asked questions

Is DropText free to use?

Yes, DropText is completely free with no sign-up required and no hidden limits.

How long do pastes last?

You choose: 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, or never expire. Burn-after-read pastes delete themselves the moment they're first viewed.

Can DropText read my encrypted pastes?

No. When client-side encryption is enabled, the text is encrypted in your browser using AES-GCM before it's sent, and the decryption key stays only in your share link, never on our servers.

Do I need an account to use DropText?

No account, email, or sign-up is required. Just paste your text and share the link.

Is DropText a good Pastebin alternative?

Yes. DropText offers what many pastebin tools charge for or lock behind accounts: password protection, burn-after-read, encryption, custom links, and syntax highlighting, all for free.

Can I edit a paste after sharing it?

Yes, if you created the paste in the same browser, you'll see a Save Changes option with a diff preview before the update is confirmed.
